Design and the construction
The very first time we laid eyes on the KEF LS50 Wireless Speakers, we thought that maybe it was made up of ceramic but just like the other version of the speaker, the cabinet of this one is also made up of MDF while the front is manufactured out of hard resin. The overall construction is really fine and we loved how well-made the product is which made it worth buying.
We also have to say that KEF has done an amazing job on the finishing of this product. It is so beautifully crafted and fine to the touch that we just cannot express. It’s outstanding in quality and all things else.
The fact that it is crafted in a very simple design and has a fine finish makes it look very subtle and beautiful. It comes in a white color which then contrasted with black Uni-Q driver gives out a stunning and eye-pleasing vibe. The combination also makes it look very unique so trust us when we say, design and the construction quality of KEF LS50 Wireless Speakers is something that is going to win your hearts.
KEF has put in a lot of effort in assembling these speakers. The entire set is manufactured out of high quality materials the material used to manufacture the front panel is Dough Moulding Compound. It is an inert material that can easily withstand the resonance and vibrations once the speaker is in performing mode.
The size of KEF LS50 Wireless Speakers is also pretty small. It isn’t too small but not too big either. The small footprint ensures you can easily keep them anywhere you want. However, they do weigh around 25lbs which makes them pretty heavy.
The right speaker comes with a small screen on top of it that will allow you to control the volume and other input in case you cannot find your remote control. The remote is also very detailed and small. It is a nice addition to the speaker set that you can use to control the speakers no matter how far you’re sitting away.
While the front of the speakers is plain, the back comes with all the connection ports i.e. USB port and all kinds of connections. The speakers also feature a huge heat sink which gets warm very rarely even if you’re extracting highest volume out of it. We have to say that KEF has combined all the parts of the speakers after much thought so they look very well integrated.
Specifications and features
Even though KEF LS50 Wireless Speakers are known as “wireless” but in actuality, they are not. The speakers need to be constantly connected to power cables while the Ethernet cable is also used to connect the speakers with one another.
The wireless part however refers to the fact that you can produce sound from these speakers through Bluetooth. You don’t have to connect them with your phone or laptop to use them. Just connect your Bluetooth and they’re good to go. However, it would have been far better if there wasn’t any use for cords at all.
However, even if you don’t have Bluetooth in your laptop doesn’t mean you cannot use it. The RCA inputs of the speakers are phenomenal and you can easily connect it to your laptop through a USB cord and hear your music conveniently.
KEF has integrated KEF LS50 Wireless Speakers with two amplifiers inside each speaker. One is used for the tweeter while the other is used for bass and mid-range cones. The bass in this speaker is very powerful given the small size it comes with. This is something that really surprised us. You don’t usually expect such powerful performance from such a small speaker but this one left us stunned.
Sound quality
The sound quality in KEF LS50 Wireless Speakers is a bit tricky. They require a little bit of tuning to get things right. You can use them in any settings you want but you will have to play with the controls for a little time to get the desired audio quality.
However, if we would like to explain how sound quality of KEF LS50 Wireless Speakers really is in a single word, we would use the word “clear and crystal”. The sound quality is so clean and goes far beyond the room without any distortion. This is another thing that one cannot expect from such speaker but it doesn’t disappoint us in that regard as well.
