KEF is specifically known for putting a driver recognized as the Uni-Q in their speakers that not only provides the user with better staging for the speaker and imaging but also enhances the entire aura. The brand is known for using latest technology in almost all of their different sized speakers but the real deal about the UNI-Q tweeters is really felt in the small size LSX Speakers.
The LSX Speakers are a set of small size speakers that are power packed and provide amazing sound quality. You can literally place it anywhere in your house, where ever you want either your desk or your corridor shelf and see how it magically fills your entire house with clean and crisp sound.
The KEF LSX are far more than a simple speaker, they’re a complete audio system, something you won’t find anywhere else. The reason why we emphasize on calling them a complete audio system is because of the various features they offer and how much flexibility they as speakers pose is absolutely fantastic.
You don’t need to connect any extra amplifiers or buffers with it. The system only requires for you to connect it through Bluetooth with your mobile phone and provide it with music, the rest you can hear for yourself.
You can call the LSX Speakers as the upgrade to the terrific LS50. The company very creatively brought down the size of an already compact speaker along with the price but ensured to sustain the overall sound quality and performance aspects.
Overall packaging and accessories that come with LSX Speakers
The KEF LSX Speakers come nicely packaged in a compact mailing box. However, we did come across a few people who complained that the packaging was broken and there weren’t any accessories included in it.
Although we did get a USB charging cable but there was no Ethernet cable included in the package this time and we were so happy that KEF has finally come up with a truly wireless speaker set.

Construction quality, design and materials
As far as the design of KEF LSX Speakers is concerned, as mentioned before, the footprint is really small and we absolutely love how compact it looks. You can easily use them on desk or place them on any other shelf at your home. This time, the cabinets have been constructed out of solid plastic which might be off putting for some people. But as KEF has brought the price of these speakers down, it was eminent that we would see a few quality compromises but nonetheless, the speakers still work amazingly well.
Unlike the fine finish on the KEF LS50, the LSX comes with a raw outlook that to us, made it look even more gorgeous. For the very first time, KEF also launched speakers in various color combinations. The KEF LSX Speakers are available in peach, black, white and grey so you can easily choose a set that goes along with your home environment.
The front of the speaker is complete plain which makes it look neat. The back however has all the connectors in the world for you. It features the USB port, a 3.5mm jack, power port and so on. The KEF LSX Speakers is constructed with a solid plastic. It’s surprising how a plastic speaker can prove to be this outstanding and we didn’t find any kind of problem with the construction.
The only thing that lacked input was the remote control of KEF LSX Speakers. That is mainly because the company has simply printed the buttons on the remote instead of engraving them which means you will have to look at the remote control to make adjustments. This might be annoying in some situations when you’re working on another thing but have to readjust your speakers.
Specifications and features
You can connect the KEF LSX Speakers by using an Ethernet cable or through Bluetooth. We didn’t find any big differences between both of these modes however; the wireless connectivity is limited to 48 KHz sampling rate.
You can connect this speaker with your music source either through WiFI, Bluetooth or USB cable. We absolutely loved how solid and strong the Bluetooth connectivity was. It stays connected for the longest time without causing any kind of hindrance in between.
The maximum sensitivity output that KEF LSX Speakers offers is 102dB. It won’t honestly shatter the window panes of your home but it is enough to create a powerhouse of music and ultimate dancing within a room filled with people.
Even though the speaker can use a maximum power supply of 100W yet, without doing so, the KEF LSX Speakers provide the users with an outstanding audio experience then imagine what it will do once it utilizes all the power being thrown at it.
Sound quality
We tested the KEF LSX Speakers by placing the speaker in a number of locations and didn’t found any factor regarding the environment that might affect the sound quality of the speakers. However, if you do put them away at least 50cm from the wall then you’ll get commendable results.
Even though the size of these speakers is really small yet the sound they create is far bigger than their size and what you could expect from a speaker with a smaller footprint. The KEF LSX Speakers offer great in-depth sound and the overall clarity and cleanliness are truly phenomenal.
The only thing that we did see the speaker lack in was the bass. It is there but not as evident as it was in LS50. You might have to connect it with an amplifier if you are looking for more solid bass but if you don’t need that, the speakers are good to go.
- Compact size.
- Great sound quality.
- Solid construction.
- The tuning is a bit warm which not everyone likes.
Final verdict
The KEF LSX Speakers offer everything that anyone can ask from a solid sound system. We absolutely loved the quality construction and great sound. It did lack in bass though but other than that, we found these speakers to be truly phenomenal.
