Did you connect your Vizio soundbar to the LED but the HDMI arc isn’t responding? There could be many reasons for that and we are here to shed light on how you can fix it.
HDMI arc sometimes doesn’t work. It maybe because of the connection error or your ARC could be damaged. Some people also face problems connecting their HDMI arc for the first time to their TVs and think that maybe their cable is damaged.
Before you connect your HDMI to your TV, the first thing you need to make sure is that they’re both compatible. Some HDMI cables are manufactured to work with specific brands. If you’re connecting one with a TV it isn’t built to work with then obviously, you will have problem connecting.
Also, some TVs do have HDMI ports but they are not ARC compatible. This could be another reason why the connection isn’t successful.

Right HDMI ARC port
Some Vizio soundbars are integrated with not one but several HDMI ports. But, they all are not ARC compatible. Before connecting your cable, make sure the port you’re inserting the cable in is the right one and supports ARC. If it still doesn’t connect then maybe there is a problem with your HDMI cable.
You can always have your cable replaced and try with a new one to be sure.
Disconnect with other HDMI devices
Your TV may be connected with other devices than just your soundbar. Another solution is to disconnect all the devices and try connecting your soundbar only. This problem is usually known as a CEC issues.
Once you have disconnected all the other HDMI devices, the CEC issues will be resolved and you will be able to have your cable connected successfully.
Update
Soundbars and TV get software updates very frequently. You should check both of your devices if their software needs an upgrade and then try connecting.
Outdates software versions are also known for causing issues which can be instantly resolved once the new update arrives. You can also search on Google for help or call your service provider to see what can be done.
Enable CEC
This isn’t very important to do but there won’t be a problem if you check it out as well. you will have to go to your menu and enable CEC. Now select HDMI ARC from your remote on your TV and see if it shows available HDMI connections or not.
Reset TV & Soundbar
If none of the solutions we have given so far have worked, then it would be better for you to reset your TV and soundbar. Here is how you can do it,
Before resetting your soundbar, turn it off for somewhat 10-seconds. Sometimes it solves the problem. If it doesn’t, you can move on to the three ways of resetting your soundbar,
- Press the “Bluetooth” and “Input” button together and hold for a few seconds. Your soundbar should reset. If this didn’t do it, maybe try the next method.
- Press the “volume down” and “input” button and hold for 6 seconds. It will restart your soundbar. In case this doesn’t work either, try the next step.
- Press and hold the “input” and “volume up” buttons together and wait for a few seconds. This should reset your soundbar for sure if the previous methods didn’t work.
Once the settings have been restored on TV and the soundbar, you can try and connect the HDMI arc again. This will terminate and hidden settings that were keeping the connectivity at bay.

Try connecting another TV
Another solution that we would like to offer is that you should connect your soundbar to another TV and determine whether the issue is with soundbar or TV. if the soundbar connects to a different TV then chances are there is a problem with your previous TV.
If the soundbar doesn’t connect to the other TV as well then your soundbar needs replacing. You can always get help from the manufacturer if your soundbar has been damaged.
