KEF LS50 Review – Everything You Need to Know About This Bad Boy

Specifications

KEF was known for integrating its trademark Uni-Q array in all its models however, the drive unit is one of its latest evolutions and it is something that makes this speaker a whole lot better.

This main idea behind Uni-Q is to not only enhance the way sound is dispersed when it’s produced by the speaker but to also help with the integration. Once you take a look at the LS50, what you will see a grilled like substance which is actually a wave-guide that enhances the overall dispersion of high frequency sound while improving the audio experience of the user.

The company has also worked really hard on the housing of the speakers. It features front panel that is made out of Dough Molding Compound and is also slightly curved while the rest of the cabinet is manufactured by using MDF that is great for durability and minimizes any kind of resonances.

The overall construction of this solid speaker is very premium which it honestly should be given the huge price tag. It very well repels distortions and provides the user with quality sound and enhances the overall performance of LS50.

Sound quality

The very first thing that hit us when we turned the speakers on was how good the quality of the bass was. All you have to do is give these speakers a little space to breath in and solid stands to mount on and you will see how good it performs.

Even though the size of LS50 Speakers is very minimal, people don’t really expect it to perform well but that is not what happens. From pitching high notes to delivering powerful lows, the speaker can cover Metallica and Bon Jovi like anything. Rest assured, unlike the low-quality small speakers you see in the market that overdo everything, the LS50 provides you with a very well-balanced sound.

You can also easily push up the frequency notes and watch KED LS50 do its thing. This is by far the only speaker in the market that can manage high and low frequency so well. Most of the mounting speakers that we have seen so far only work with one end. Either they produce good high frequency sound or solid low frequency but cannot do it all. The LS50 does it beautifully!

The best thing about these speakers is that you enjoy yourself to the fullest. That is something we have never seen KEF products do so we were thrilled when we loved the music it played.

Design

Another impressive feature of the KEF LS50 was its impeccable design. It is hard to fill so much innovation and top performance ratio in such a small size but KEF did it. Apart from being tiny, the speakers come in a very well-constructed enclosure.

The material, as mentioned before, is MDF which is solid and ensures the speaker can resist inward vibrations efficiently. Another thing that this enclosure does is fulfill the need to be solid enough that it can produce powerful bass.

As we have said before, the bass that LS50 produces is excellent and it is no wonder the only way to do that is to build an enclosure that is solid enough to withstand the vibrations. The housing is also damage proof and has been through rigorous testing to ensure the quality standards set by KEF.

What we didn’t like?

It is hard to say because there isn’t anything that we didn’t like about KEF LS50 Speakers. The only thing we did hope that KEF had added were the mounting stands. Apart from that, it has everything you need and you won’t be disappointed by its performance.

Final verdict

The level of transparency KEF has provided us with when it comes to LS50 Speakers in evident. There isn’t any manufacturing or performance flaw that we found in this speaker.

It is by far the best standmounter speakers that you can find in the market. The price is a bit high but you do get everything you’ve paid for.
